The Shadow
The Shadow first came into being as the narrator of stories from Detective Story Magazine on radio. The persona caught on with listeners and they inundated Street and Smith Publications with queries about where they could ind stories featuring the mysterious crime fighter. In response Street and Smith hired a young writer by the name of Walter B. Gibson to write the stories that would breathe life into The Shadow.
