Rex Stout
Rex Stout was a detective fiction author who, like so many authors of his time, started writing mainly for the pulp magazines. He is best known as the creator of the fictional character Nero Wolfe and was nominated as the Best Mystery Writer of the Century at the 2000 Bouchercon Convention.
As well as writing 47 novels in the Nero Wolfe series Stout also penned 40 Nero Wolfe novellas. Wolfe first appeared in the novel Fer-de-Lance (1934) along with his assistant Archie Goodwin. From then the pair went on to become one of the best known and loved detectives in American popular culture.
