Real Detective Magazine

Real Detective is a magazine with an interesting history, particularly in relation to the name changes the magazine underwent over the years of publication. It actually started life under the name Detective Tales in 1922 and it continued to be published by Rural Publications until 1924 when it was sold to Real Detective Tales, Inc., and began being published under the full name of Real Detective Tales.

It continued to be published under the name of Real Detective Tales and then Real Detective Tales and Mystery Stories until around 1931. From this time the magazine began to reduce the number of fiction stories that it published and replaced them with non-fiction stories. As the magazine continued it became more focused on the non-fiction aspect and the final name change to Real Detective reflected the change in content.
