Dashiell Hammett

Along with The Maltese Falcon, Dashiell Hammett was also the creator of The Continental Op and The Thin Man, all of which were immortalised on the big screen. His hardboiled stories set the standard that all other crime writers aspire to writing detective fiction with complex plots in a spare style that few could match.

Dashiell Hammett wrote five novels and more than 80 short stories and in the process became one of the most influential writers of the Twentieth Century.

Dashiell Hammett's novels are: Red Harvest (1929), The Dain Curse (1929), The Maltese Falcon (1930), The Glass Key (1931) and The Thin Man (1934).
