Carter Brown
Carter Brown is the acknowledged pseudonym of Alan G. Yates an Australian paperback writer who churned out over 150 pulp crime novels between 1953 - 1968. The books were set in the US (apart from two that are set in Australia) but they sold much more prolifically outside of that country. The stories were all light-humored while aiming at a hardboiled edge with a hint of sleaze.
The Carter Brown books were originally published by Horwitz and later reprinted in the US by Signet and the UK by New English Library.
The Carter Brown crime books featured a number of series characters including Larry Baker, Danny Body, Paul Donovan, Rick Holman, Andy Kane, Randy Roberts, Mavis Seidlitz and Al Wheeler.
